I enjoyed this piece of yours on sfgate. The 6 R’s of Healthcare that you mentioned truly are helpful! I think we all take advantage of our bodies and need to stop and appreciate who we are and what we do on a day to day basis. We need to “Reduce” like you mentioned, our expectations so we can live a more fulfilling, healthy lifestyle, rather than a chaotic and stressful life! Looking forward to your future pieces Doc. Also, thank you for your work at the public health clinic for the homeless, you have inspired me to get out there and volunteer and I am starting in the coming weeks!
Congratulations, Stephanie! There’s nothing like acting on a great, altruistic impulse (volunteering) to help feed your joy habit, strengthen your social safety net and even measurably improve your health (not to mention making the world a better place for us all!). Thanks and best wishes (and if your first volunteer effort isn’t a good match, don’t get discouraged – there are lots of great opportunities out there, eager for someone like you).
