    Dear Doc,
First time here. Despite the good work you are preaching and the amusing anecdotal evidence you generate, I cant help feel the garbage about eating your way out of desease is a way to go. My sister died last week in England from cancer of the colon, and the Dr’s treating her put her on a savage diet ? Her weight plummeted, her health deteriorated, and finally she succumbed to the dreaded C.
Dr’s here in Oz, keep feeding this BS, that you can cure C by eating the right foods ??? My contention you can eat rhubarb till the cows come home, and it will matter not-one-iota.

    Pls get real Doctor.

    Kind Regards,
    DS

    Dear Dalma,
I’m so so sorry for your loss. If I seemed to imply that anyone can treat a cancer by diet, then I need to work on my communication skills – for that is not something I believe, or condone. I have never seen any evidence from any trial, ever, to show that diet is effective in the treatment of cancer (if anyone knows of one, I’d be happy to review it). Instead, what I hope to convey in these articles is that there is good evidence that nurturing yourself – over the long haul – with the healthiest of food and habits has certainly been shown, time and again, to help us live our best. That being said, I am also a passionate hater of the blame-the-victim mentality which is all too rampant in our society. No matter how you live, badness happens. And when it does, we can only hope that those around us will grieve with us. My deepest sympathies to you and yours,
