When I first read it in the newspaper, I smelled a rat.As a pharmacist, I haven't seen placebos prescribed since the early 80"s. There used to be such a thing as Cebo Caps which came in 3 colors. I'd always thought that was very deceitful on the part of physicians to prescribe sugar capsules for migraines, stomachaches,etc, and I felt like I was doing something unethical in dispensing them. I don't feel that the researchers can characterize an antianxiety med as a placebo when, in fact, it decreases the anxiety inherent in chronic pain. It is serving a purpose in alleviating the patient's problem which is what the physician is striving to do. Mary Thanks for exposing the BOGUS research about placebos.
