I NEVER post comments on the internet but this saved my life! I thought I was dying & had no idea that I could have forgotten a tampon inside of me! I had all the same symptoms ( smell, brown discharge, ect) I couldn't believe when I reached in there and found that nasty thing! Ughh!

This was late last night & I still have the smell going on, tenderness & a bit of inflammation in my lower abdomen. Is that normal?

So glad I found this website! So helpful. I think this may have happened to me but I'm not sure. Last night I had, had waaay too much to drink and ended up having sex with my bf with my tampon still in. I have no idea if its stuck up there or if it somehow came out during sex. I put in another tampon in the am, since its the first couple days of my period, and when I went to the bathroom a couple hours later to check, my flow was pretty heavy- and i was using a super tampon. Would my flow be that heavy if the tampon was stuck??? Help!

I just went to the bathroom and an old tampon from at least 2 years ago discharged. I feel fine, should I go to doctor?

It it's possible for it to be lost with no smell? After my period months ago I questioned removing one and sex was really painful. Now after my period I get these little pieces of tampon coming out with no smell. I went to my gyno recently for a pap and she didn't say anything. I mentioned to her I saw what looked like material come out and she didn't seem concerned. Im reading everyone had a smell but I don't at all. I tried to see if I could find it and so did my boyfriend. All I found was little bits of tampon like maybe left behind from my period or maybe it can be a lost tampon falling apart?

Help.

I think I have a tampon inside of me but I am not sure. I have a slight odor and a stomach ache for a week now. I just ended my period and there could be a tampon lost. I have checked several times as well as having my fiance check for me. We have done a thorough job with your suggestions techniques and we found nothing. Would it be safe to say there is not a lost tampon?

Well, it would appear that none of us are the only ones! To those who say 'I don't understand how you can lose one' let me tell you, you well and truly can. Woke up yesterday morning, after a night out, went to retrieve my tampon and no string. However I was pretty sure there was something still in there. Long story short - spent the day online, tried flushing it out, tried reaching and searching myself (not fun!), got a hand mirror and checked everywhere-nothing. So convinced myself I must be imagining it. This morning I woke up, went to the toilet, thought i'd have another check and low and behold-there it was! For those people who have landed up on this site because you're worried, I would suggest (although it might be wrong as there is risk of infection) leave it just for one night before driving yourself mad. Mine just found it's way back down, from goodness knows where(!) and I was able to easily retrieve. Also, trust your instincts, they're most probably right.
