Here’s your chance! Read the article in either the San Francisco Chronicle, or the unedited version posted here, titled America–Most Expensive Pee In The World, then weigh in on the sanity of Doc Gurley–does she really think Big Pharma’s going to clean up its water-contaminating act?
Vote for one of the following: 1) clearly, she drank too many cups of steroids tea–she’s really lost it if she thinks Big Pharma will ever do something like this, or 2) yeah! she’s right! let’s write letters! let’s call our representatives! let’s dance in a circle with (estrogen-saturated) flowers on our heads! or 3) the only thing for certain, after publishing this post, is that Doc Gurley’s chances for a Lily Pharmaceutical “honorarium” have gone down the toilet faster than a $4 dose of Cymbalta.

I just read in the S.F. Chronicle that America, the country that has been waging a “war on drugs” against its own citizenry for 30-some years, is now seen to have irrevocably polluted its water supply with excreted drugs from its overuse and misuse of pharmaceuticals. So much for a drug-free America, huh? As for whether Big Pharma will voluntarily do anything to clean up the mess it has made – no shot. Big Pharma is strictly about profits, not public (or environmental) health. I would have thought a public health service doctor would have figured that out by now. Will Stockwin, Colfax, CA.
Of course the good doctor knows better, she was writing a tongue-in-cheek article. I’m sure she’d be as surprised as the rest of us if the big pharm companies actually did the ethical and morally responsible actions she suggests, but, like the rest of us, she also knows it will be a cold day in hell before that happens.
