Don't forget when you talk about serial monogamy, it's always good to get your meds at the same place. That way, the pharmacist can check for drug interactions, duplications,and potential drug abuse. Can't believe the times I 've checked a patient's profile and seen them on 2 or 3 antianxiety meds, 2 or 3 antidepressants,etc. The elderly, especially, need someone to watch this. When "Mom" is getting confused all of a sudden, it's usually because her meds are screwed up because she is pharmacy shopping for the best price and goes to 3 different places to get them filled and each pharmacy doesn't have her complete medication profile in their computer. There are a lot of cognitively impaired elderly out there and not all because of Alzheimer's! I'll get off my soapbox now! Mary Great article, Doc!
